Today Sergey Vinnikov—the well-known director and producer of about 600 performances, with theatrical and television programmes shown in 23 countries, and author of over 150 TV movie scripts, creative festivals, and theatre performances—made his debut as a book author with the publication, Directing Life.

Sergey Vinnikov spoke about creating the book and read excerpts from it, evoking sadness, consideration, and laughter amongst the readers gathered in the Museum.

Directing Life is not only about the history of the creation of performances, festivals, and television programmes, but also about the experience of conducting live broadcasts of major concert and festival events, work undertaken before mobile phones could record events as they happen, and the peculiarities of artistic life. The author related anecdotes about famous artists, composers, and set designers working together on theatrical and concert projects that became notable events in Russian culture.

Some of those appearing in his book were present that evening: songwriter and Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation Nikolai Denisov; actor, composer, TV presenter, and Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation Sergey Shustitsky; director and Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation Yevgeny Shibagutdinov, and others.

The book was published by the Institute of Contemporary Art (ISI), where Professor Sergey Vinnikov passes on his experience and knowledge to future producers and directors. Rector of ISI, PhD Philosophical Sciences, Professor Irina Sukholet said that this publication can serve as a textbook for students.
